Privacy Policy

FileRaccoon is an image compression tool that runs entirely in your web browser. This page describes what happens to your data when you use it.

Your images

Images you select are read and compressed by your own browser using standard web APIs (Canvas and Web Workers). The image data is held in your device's memory for the duration of the operation and is never transmitted to our servers or to any third party. We do not store, log, or have any means of accessing your images.

Because the compressed file is re-encoded by your browser, most embedded metadata from the original (such as camera EXIF data) is not carried into the output. We do not treat this as a metadata-removal feature and make no guarantee about what any particular browser retains.

Files and storage

We do not upload files. Compressed results exist only as temporary in-memory objects until you download them or close the page. We do not encrypt or store files on a server, because no file ever reaches one.

Analytics and cookies

The site currently sets no tracking cookies and runs no third-party analytics scripts. If we add privacy-respecting usage analytics in the future, it will record only anonymous product events such as "a compression completed" — never filenames, image contents, or image dimensions tied to you.

Advertising

FileRaccoon does not currently display advertising, and no advertising or ad-measurement code is loaded on this site. A reserved space exists in the page layout for a future advertising unit. If and when advertising is switched on, this section will be updated before it goes live to name the provider, describe the cookies or identifiers it uses, and link to its own privacy notice. Advertising would never involve sending your images anywhere — image processing stays in your browser regardless.

Hosting logs

Like any website, our hosting provider may record standard server request information (such as IP address, timestamp, and requested page) for security and reliability. These logs do not contain your images, because your images are never sent.
